Did you know, the Brandt House will have a guest lounge upstairs? Originally, we had planned to make this space an eighth room, but as time passed and we thought more about the needs of our guests it became clear, we needed a lounge. The lounge will be a place for gathering, work, or play. It will be home to a coffee bar (filled with snacks too!) as well as a table for work or visiting with friends. We are especially excited about the work table as it is being custom made just for us and our space.
Nathan Taylor, owner of TaylorMade Woodworks, is building a pine table for our guests. When we partnered with Nate, we shared some photos back and forth for inspiration and then he took off with the ideas. The table will be central to the guest lounge providing seating and a place to do a little work, play a game or just visit with fellow travelers. Nate’s interest in woodworking was influenced by his father, also a craftsman. Over the years his love of building with his hands grew and he especially likes learning new techniques for building. For about six years Nate built because he enjoyed it. His projects were mostly for friends and family, but in fall 2024 he decided to give his pastime passion a name.
We feel fortunate to work with Nate. Not only is he the craftsman behind our guest lounge table, but he is one of the builders on Frontier’s team. Nate lives in Alma and has spent hours working on the hotel. He has played a role in bringing the hotel back to life in more ways than one. Nate shared with us, “working on historical projects and seeing the craftsmanship of those before me has inspired me to continue growing my skills.” We are excited for the next generation to see and appreciate the work of Nate too.
