A Moment for Reflection

As the year draws to a close, it is a time of reflection for many. As we look back on the last 12 months, we find ourselves thankful for the work of so many individuals. We’ve worked with excellent consultants, contractors, and subcontractors, all of whom have played an important role in breathing life back into the historic hotel. We absolutely couldn’t have done it without them. A few weeks ago, while driving down main street my husband stopped and snapped a picture of the hotel in the dark, except, the lights were on. He commented, “I bet it’s been years since the lights have been on.” The warm glow from the hotel windows was proof of the hotel’s return. We are so excited to share the final product with our community and travelers from all corners.

This hotel has been a passion project for the ownership group, it’s something we have spent hours dreaming about and then last November, we had the chance to take the first big step and purchase the property. We have each brought strengths, ideas, and opinions to the project. It has pieces of us, of our hopes, and our hearts throughout. For us, bringing the hotel back to life means an opportunity for others to experience what we know and love about Alma, Wabaunsee County, and the Flint Hills. This is a special place. A place where travelers can find fresh air, a respite from the busyness of life, a chance to reset. For others, it will be a return home. A place to stay when visiting family, a place to relive memories, and, to make new ones.

As construction comes to a close, we are knocking out the list of ‘must dos’ as well as turning our attention to the details and finishing touches that we are most excited about. We are excited to open our doors and share this project with you. We can’t wait to see the next chapter of the Brandt House unfold. Thank you for joining us on this journey.
